Azabache Films was founded in Mozambique in 2008 by the Italian-Argentine director Fabian Ribezzo and the Italian producer Vittoria Giovannini. In 2014 the company moved to Italy.
Specialized in the production of documentaries, fiction, animations and advertising, over the years the Company realized products for a wide range of clients, such as European Union, UNICEF, United Nations, Italian Cooperation, Handicap International, ILO in addition to various international NGOs.
Azabache Films has been rewarded by winning 31 Awards in International Film Festivals. With the animated videos Sometimes the river and The Change won 9 International prizes. The Change was selected by Redcat International Children’s Film Festival 2013 and screened at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
With the short film A Tropical Sunday, realized in Mozambique, won the Best Drama Award at the Aspen Shortsfest 2014, obtaining the qualification to enter the selection for the Oscars 2015
